Our Story

The story of Quarterland Bay doesn’t follow the usual narrative of other hospitality brands. Owners Kenny and Sonya have always had a profound passion for helping children, inspired by their own experiences of being given a chance at life. It was only natural that their daughter, Chloe, would share this heartbeat.

At just ten years old, wanting to do her bit to help, Chloe set up a lemonade stand outside the family home to raise money for the local hospice.

It was an instant hit, becoming a much-loved feature of the local community.

As Chloe grew older, her vision expanded. Channeling her entrepreneurial instincts, passed down from her parents, she convinced her parents to create a campsite on their land.

A special, beautiful sanctuary for hospice children and their families to escape the stress of normal life and simply enjoy quality time together. Chloe passionately ran an honesty-box tuck shop on the site for eight years, with every single penny earned going directly to charity. Over the years, the campsite hosted hundreds of people from across Northern Ireland and beyond, cementing the family’s core belief in the healing power of connection.

This very foundation is what inspired the evolution of Quarterland Bay into what it is today.

Kenny and Sonya haven’t just built a luxury escape; they have intentionally crafted a family-run “happy place” designed to lift the burdens of daily life and provide a blissful, caring space where families and friends can gather under one roof.

Overlooking the waters of Strangford Lough, Quarterland Bay is a private retreat designed around connection. Not just a beautiful place to stay, but a space where families gather properly, friends celebrate fully, and conversations unfold without one eye on the clock.

Everything is thoughtfully curated, so there’s nothing to organise and nowhere else to be. Just shared meals, long walks, quiet mornings and late-night stories. This is not just a place to stay, but a place to exhale and reconnect.
